Ayo

Daughter of a Nigerian father and a Germany gypsy mother, Ayo has been described as a free spirit, like the calm before the storm.  A revelation in flesh and blood.  She grew up in a gypsy community, something that has supported her rich racial mix of her songs on her debut album ‘Joyful’.  This attractive artist radiates joy as she invites you to listen to the world of music rather than the music of the world.

Ayo was born in Germany, and her unusual name mean joy in Yoruba.  Her rich cultural background also reflect her musical influences: she grew up with Pink Floyd, Fela Kuti, the Soul Children, Bob Marley, amongst many others.

With a nomadic lifestyle, Ayo now lives between Paris and New York, two capitals that accurately sum up her musical identity.  Her new album was recorded in New York, practically live in just five days.  The result is a collection of bittersweet songs, twelve tracks filled with all her various experience and the people she’s encountered along the way.  She cries, laughs and moves us with her simplicity.  She strives naturally and sincerely, sharing her stories and touching others, boosted solely by her life experiences and her dreams.

In co-production with Producciones Animadas.
